A modern TAVI procedure (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) was successfully performed on a 72-year-old patient at a medical clinic. The operation, carried out without major surgical incisions, was performed at the clinic for the first time.

The patient had suffered from heart disease for nearly ten years and her condition had worsened due to narrowed blood vessels. During the procedure, doctors inserted a thin catheter through a blood vessel in the leg and implanted a new aortic valve in the heart. The operation lasted about one and a half hours and was successful.

Specialists from Russia and doctors from local private clinics also participated in the surgery. The patient is currently under medical supervision in the intensive care unit and her condition is stable.
