On June 24, an informational event on the international TOEFL examination was held at Osh State University. The event brought together lecturers from OshSU, as well as faculty members from higher education institutions and school teachers from Osh and Jalal-Abad cities.

During the event, OshSU Rector Kudayberdi Kozhobekov spoke about the university’s efforts to expand international cooperation and enhance the English language competencies of students and academic staff. He also highlighted the possibility of establishing a TOEFL center at OshSU in the future, noting that such a center would provide convenient access for students, faculty members, and young people across the region to take internationally recognized language examinations locally.

During the meeting, Anna Gutkovska, Regional Director for Eurasia and Central Asia for the TOEFL international examination, delivered presentations on the features of the TOEFL test, its advantages as a globally recognized academic English language assessment system, and its importance for university admissions. Participants were also introduced to special resources and tools designed to support TOEFL preparation.

In the second half of the day, a special TOEFL Workshop was conducted for English language teachers. The workshop focused on test preparation methods, teaching strategies, and effective approaches to preparing students for international examinations.

TOEFL iBT is an international test that measures English language proficiency. It comprehensively assesses reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills. The test is primarily designed for applicants seeking admission to universities in the United States and other English-speaking countries. More than 13,000 higher education institutions in over 160 countries recognize the TOEFL examination.

The informational event was organized jointly by OshSU and the TOEFL Test Center in Kyrgyzstan.
