Institute of History and Law is a modern educational and research center that prepares highly qualified specialists in history, jurisprudence, customs, forensic science, and other social sciences and humanities. At the institute, students acquire profound knowledge and professional skills in law, theory of state and law, international law, customs, forensic science, history, and social sciences.

The history of the Institute of History and Law is closely connected with the establishment of Osh State University. The institute originated in 1939 as the Faculty of History, which began training specialists in history and social education for the southern region of the country.

In 1992, due to the growing demand for legal education during the period of independence, the Faculty of History and Law was established with the opening of the law program. In the following years, the fields of history and jurisprudence successfully developed both independently and within joint academic structures.

According to Order No. 2810 of the Rector of Osh State University dated June 22, 2024, the Institute of History and Law was officially established. Currently, the institute is headed by Doctor of Law, Professor K.G. Kuldysheva.
