Osh State University has been recognized as one of the top universities in Asia, according to the QS World University Rankings. Ranked 260th out of 984 institutions, OshSU also secured 13th place among 65 universities in Central Asia, marking the highest position it has ever achieved.
The QS World University Rankings, one of the most prestigious and trusted global ranking systems, are updated annually and assess universities based on six key indicators. The QS Asia ranking, in particular, focuses on leading universities in the region, evaluating them for research output, teaching quality, and international impact. To be featured in this ranking is a testament to high educational standards. The evaluation criteria include the university’s reputation among academics and employers, the citation index of its scientific publications, faculty-to-student ratio, ratio of international faculty and students, and its commitment to academic mobility.
Osh State University achieved a score of 33% based on these indicators, making this its first appearance in this esteemed ranking. This QS ranking certifies that OshSU has reached the gold standard of academic excellence in the region, serving as an essential reference for students and researchers seeking reputable institutions.
For 2025, six universities from Kyrgyzstan are included in the QS Asia ranking, with OshSU ranked second nationally. Previously, OshSU held the second position in the 2024 IAAR Eurasian University Ranking (IAAR EUR).
