An event dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of the Leningrad blockade was held at the Russian Language Center of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Osh State University.
The event was attended by the institute’s faculty members, students, and graduate students. During the event, historical facts about the military blockade, the courage of the city’s residents, and information about Leningrad during the war were presented. The program included thematic presentations, eyewitness accounts, video materials, and discussions.
The event was aimed at developing students’ skills in understanding and interpreting historical texts in Russian, as well as expanding their vocabulary.
The siege of Leningrad – the blockade – lasted 872 days during the Great Patriotic War and was carried out by German, Finnish forces, and their allies. During that time, Kyrgyzstan received 16,000 evacuees from Leningrad, including 3,500 children. In addition, 103 wagons of humanitarian aid, including food and clothing, were delivered from the Kyrgyz SSR to the city. Thousands of Kyrgyz citizens fought for the liberation of Leningrad.
