On November 26, the Osh State University community came together to celebrate Teacher and Science Day. The event was inaugurated by OshSU Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, who extended his congratulations to educators and researchers, highlighting their vital role. He also shared updates on the university’s achievements, ongoing initiatives, and ambitious goals for the future.
During the ceremony, it was noted that OshSU ranked 260th among 984 top universities in Asia and 13th among 65 institutions in Central Asia in the QS World University Rankings. Rector Kozhobekov emphasized that this marks the best result in the university’s history and encouraged collaborative efforts to secure a position in the global rankings.
As part of the celebration, Nazgul Kanybekova, a mathematics teacher at Bilim Lyceum, was honored with the first prize in the “Best Teacher of the Year” competition. She was awarded a certificate and a cash prize of 200,000 soms.
Several professors received accolades, including badges such as “Best Education Worker” and “Best Researcher” from the Ministry of Education and Science, along with certificates of honor from local authorities and the university itself. In addition, four young scientists were recognized in a competition by the Ministry of Education, earning awards in categories like “Best Scientific Article of the Year” and “Best Young Scientist of the Year.”
Thirty-four authors of 21 high-impact articles published in top-tier journals (Q1, Q2, Q3) were rewarded with prizes ranging from 15,000 to 50,000 soms. Additionally, six individuals who successfully defended their doctoral dissertations received 100,000 soms each, while 26 candidates of science were awarded 50,000 soms each for their achievements.
Winners of various competitions, including the “Best Educational and Research Work” and student Olympiads, were celebrated with diplomas and cash prizes. Awards were also given to participants of the “Modern Lecturer of OshSU,” “Modern Professor of OshSU,” “Pedagogical debut,” and other teaching excellence competitions.
The ceremony concluded with a vibrant concert program, adding a festive touch to the recognition of academic and teaching excellence.
