The Institute of Oriental Studies and the College of International Educational Programs at Osh State University commemorated International Arabic Language Day on December 18. The event was inaugurated by Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, who extended his congratulations to students, graduates, and faculty engaged in Arabic studies.
“Currently, the Institute of Oriental Studies has over a hundred students and postgraduates studying Arabic. In 2018, the Qatar-Arabic Language and Translation Center was established with financial support from the State of Qatar. In 2024, the Arabic Language and Culture Center, funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was also launched. Moreover, our students and postgraduates are pursuing academic mobility programs in Egypt and Jordan,” stated Zholdoshbek Botonoev, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies.
As part of the celebration, scholarships were awarded through the efforts of Zholdoshbek Botonoev, Sherzodbek Nosirov, head of the institute’s Qatar-Arabic Reading and Translation Center, and the institute’s alumni. Scholarships totaling 10,000 soms, 20,000 soms, and $500 were distributed to the seven most outstanding students from the institute and the college.
