Osh State University and the Chamber of Beekeepers of Kyrgyzstan have formalized a memorandum of cooperation aimed at advancing beekeeping in the Osh region through a cluster-based approach. The agreement was signed during a round table discussion on December 12 at Osh State University.
The event brought together representatives from the presidential office in the Osh region, the Chamber of Beekeepers, the regional public association “Arykechter,” the university’s Business Park and innovative agricultural center, as well as local entrepreneurs. Attendees shared insights on the current challenges, opportunities, and state of the beekeeping sector, while exploring ways to enhance the industry with modern technologies, improve product quality, and expand exports.
Experts at the round table highlighted ongoing scientific research and the development of a Kyrgyz bee breed well-suited to the country’s climate. A proposal was also made to incorporate beekeeping into the curriculum for veterinary and agronomy students at Osh State University. Erlan Kamalov, Director of the Business Park, provided updates on initiatives being undertaken as part of the memorandum.
The cooperation agreement outlines plans to promote scientific research, implement innovative technologies, and provide training for honey producers and industry specialists. It also emphasizes the importance of supporting youth-led startup projects in beekeeping. The round table was initiated by the “Arykechter” Public Association, Osh State University’s Business Park, and its innovative agricultural center.
