Craftswomen from the Leilek district in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region have honed their skills in creating handmade souvenirs using locally sourced materials. The training, led by Osh State University instructors Kimiya Torogeldieva and Elina Moldokulova from the Institute of Pedagogy, Art, and Journalism, aimed to blend traditional Kyrgyz craftsmanship with modern design.
Over the course of two days, participants learned techniques to produce high-quality, culturally rich items tailored for tourists. They adorned panels, bags, and pillows with embroidered depictions of the Aigul flower, Batken’s iconic symbol, and crafted various felt products.
This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Korean government as part of a special project designed to support Kyrgyzstan’s handicraft industry and enhance the country’s tourism potential.
