In honor of International Migrants Day on December 18, Osh State University hosted the premiere of the documentary film “Osh, I Love You.” This 30-minute film was a collaborative effort by the university, the International Organization for Migration, and the Asian Creative Women Public Foundation. Director - Asel Zhuraeva.
The documentary follows the journey of two Pakistani migrants, Aftab and Safiulla, who have made Osh their second home. It highlights their challenges, accomplishments, and profound affection for Kyrgyzstan. “Perhaps someone who watches this film will see things differently and strive for inner harmony, irrespective of their location, country, or language,” said Asel Zhuraeva.
Following the screening, a panel discussion took place with the director and the protagonists, offering a deeper exploration of the film’s themes and a broader analysis of migration and social integration issues.
The event was made possible with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). According to official statistics, Kyrgyzstan is home to over 28,000 foreign students, with approximately 10,000 studying at Osh State University.
