International Medical Olympiad Held at OshSU Unites Students from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan

An international Olympiad in Histology, Cytology and Embryology, and Pathological Anatomy was held at the Faculty of Medicine of Osh State University. The event brought together students from several medical universities in Uzbekistan, Jalal-Abad State University, and the Faculty of Medicine of Osh State University.

The Olympiad consisted of two stages. The first stage involved online testing conducted via the platform https://testapp.portal.oshsu.kg/, where participants' initial rankings were determined. In the second stage, students demonstrated practical skills and completed tasks based on various clinical case scenarios. The winners were announced as follows:

Histology, Cytology and Embryology (Absolute Winner):

  • Ibrokhimjon Shavkatov – Andijan State Medical University;
  • Symbat Atakanova – Osh State University, 1st-degree diploma;
  • Firuza Sherbaeva – Kokand University, Andijan branch;
  • Mubina Bazarbaeva – Osh State University, 2nd-degree diploma;
  • Aynazik Abdykaimova – Jalal-Abad State University;
  • Faezbek Umarov – Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health;

3rd-degree diploma winners:

  • Yasmina Mamatajieva – Jalal-Abad State University;

Pathological Anatomy (Absolute Winner):

The professors and instructors who accompanied the participants were awarded letters of appreciation from the rector of Osh State University and commemorative gifts.

The Olympiad was initiated to attract talented young people to address contemporary and relevant issues in the morphological sciences and to promote scientific and methodological cooperation among medical universities. According to the organizers, such Olympiads contribute to deepening students’ subject knowledge, strengthening friendly relations among medical institutions, and creating broad opportunities for the exchange of experience among educators.
