Osh State University hosted the international scientific and practical conference titled “Creating a National Green and Digital (GDU) University Network: Tasks and Ways to Implement,” focused on advancing the Green and Digital Universities (GDU) concept.
The event was held as part of the Erasmus+ project “GREEN and Digital Universities for Sustainable Development of Kyrgyzstan” (GREENKG). It brought together participants from higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Germany, and Lithuania, as well as experts from academia and government bodies.
Attendees explored presentations on digital transformation in education, educational quality, sustainability principles, and environmental responsibility. Discussions addressed the internal regulations needed to form the GDU network, covering legal, financial, and administrative frameworks. International experiences with "green" initiatives were also shared. Participants visited Osh State University’s cutting-edge technological facilities, including the Next Generation HUB, the Robotics Center, and the Satellite Analysis Center.
A draft agreement on creating a national network of green and digital universities was reviewed and presented to university rectors for signing. Additionally, key documents outlining the network’s work plan, objectives, and coordination mechanisms were approved.
The conference served as a vital platform for shaping strategies aimed at promoting sustainable development in higher education and enhancing international academic cooperation. The outcomes are expected to play a crucial role in the digital and ecological transformation of Kyrgyzstan's university system.
