On October 17, Osh State University hosted a public speaking competition in Korean for students and schoolchildren studying the Korean language.
The event was attended by Kim Kwan-jae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan; Kursantbek Attokurov, Vice-Rector for External Relations of Osh State University; Kim Jong-un, Director of the Sejong 2 Institute in Osh; as well as students and schoolchildren from Korean language centers in Osh. In his speech, the Ambassador emphasized that the competition will provide an excellent opportunity for participants to deepen their knowledge of the Korean language and culture.
The program featured public speaking contests, a concert, and raffle drawings. Winners received diplomas, cash prizes, and commemorative gifts.
Today, Osh State University actively cooperates with 18 leading universities in Korea under bilateral agreements. Each academic year, more than 50 students study at Korean universities through academic mobility programs. Since 2018, over 300 students have taken part in exchange programs with partner universities in Korea.
In addition, the university’s Higher School of International Educational Programs hosts the “Hoshim” Korean Language and Culture Center, established jointly with Kwangju University (Korea). The center provides students and teachers with opportunities to deepen their knowledge of the Korean language and culture, further strengthening cultural and educational ties between the two countries.
