On April 28, Osh State University hosted a discussion and presentation of the novel The Trunk by Zhyrgal Sulaimanov, a member of the National Writers' Union. The event brought together members of the university community, literature enthusiasts, and literary critics from the city of Osh.
During the event, participants highlighted that The Trunk narrates a family's one-day journey, filled with secrets, mysteries, and intense moments. They praised the novel’s dynamic plot twists and the psychological depth with which the characters are portrayed, particularly through their reactions to a bag of money they unexpectedly encounter. Attendees also emphasized the symbolic message of the novel, reflecting on the role and place of individuals within society.
An additional point of interest discussed was the symbolic use of American, Chinese, Russian, Indian, and Kyrgyz names among the Tyrteyev family members, descendants of Tyrtay Ata, which subtly references the contemporary geopolitical landscape.
Published in 2025, The Trunk spans 267 pages.
