A seminar focused on developing a financial model for universities was held today, October 29, at Osh State University. Financial managers, chief accountants, and planning department heads from various universities participated in the event.

Since the previous academic year, several universities, including OshSU, have adopted an autonomous financial model that allows them to generate income through startup and business projects. This initiative is part of the “Development of Financial Autonomy of Universities” (DEFA) project.

During the seminar, Kyrgyz State Technical University and Osh State University professors Nazgul Kurmanova and Roman Kalmatov presented methods for implementing financial autonomy in Kyrgyzstani universities, suggesting practical approaches for institutional application.

The DEFA project, launched in December 2022 under the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, includes 13 universities—ten from Kyrgyzstan, two from Italy, and one from Germany. As part of this project, a roadmap for developing Kyrgyzstan’s education sector through 2030 has been created.
