Zholboldu Alibaev’s Book Dana Kyz Presented in Osh

On March 26, a presentation was held for Dana Kyz, a book by Zholboldu Alibaev, a People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, singer, and professor at Osh State University.

The event was attended by Osh Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, local officials, Aitmatov expert and academician Abdyldajan Akmataliev, president of the “Manas” and Chingiz Aitmatov National Academy Aziz Biimyrza uulu, director of the Kyrgyz National “Manas” Theater Nurbek Talantbekov, as well as faculty, staff, and students of Osh State University.

Aziz Biimyrza uulu hosted the ceremony, highlighting Alibaev’s artistic journey and significant contributions to Kyrgyz culture. Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev also praised Alibaev’s artistic and personal qualities, announcing that a street in the Kerme-Too municipal territorial administration had been named in his honor.

Abdyldajan Akmataliev, who wrote the book’s foreword, explained that Dana Kyz features lyrics by Alibaev, original songs composed with both words and melody, epics, and dedication pieces. He emphasized that the book showcases the harmony between lyrics and music, reflecting Alibaev’s talent as a storyteller, singer, poet, composer, and teacher. Notably, electronic versions of the songs are included via QR codes.

During the presentation, manaschi Rysbek Isakov performed an excerpt from Manas, and Alibaev’s students sang poetic compositions from his works. Alibaev himself performed Dana Kyz and expressed gratitude to those who had supported him throughout his career. He acknowledged Osh State University’s role in his artistic development, having studied and worked there for 25 years. He also thanked the Kyrgyz National “Manas” Theater and the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute of Language and Literature for their assistance in publishing the book.

Zholboldu Alibaev is a renowned figure in Kyrgyz music and literature, celebrated for love epics such as Ozgochom and Myrzayim, set to the words of Barpy Alykulov, as well as Cholponum, featuring his own lyrics. He has authored three poetry collections, an epic poem, and a collection of short stories.
