An international scientific-practical conference titled “Innovation and Partnership in Sustainable Development: Biodiversity, Green Economy, and Ecology” was held at Osh State University on May 23-24. The event was dedicated to commemorating the 65th anniversary of Professor Bolot Kulnazarov, Doctor of Biological Sciences and the founder of Kyrgyzstan’s first school of zoology and ecology.

The conference brought together scholars from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and others who joined virtually from the USA and Russia. It was also attended by local university faculty, PhD researchers, master’s students, and members of Kulnazarov’s family.

Participants paid tribute to Professor Kulnazarov’s scientific contributions and personal character. During the plenary session, presentations and discussions focused on biodiversity, sustainable development’s role in addressing socio-economic and environmental challenges, and topics related to the green economy and ecology.

Professor Kulnazarov mentored eight candidates of sciences in fields such as batrachology, ornithology, theriology, and parasitology. He pioneered the establishment of a zoology and ecology school in Kyrgyzstan.

His international experience included work at Oregon State University (1995-1996), Massachusetts State University (2000-2001), and internships at Central European University (1997) and the University of California (2002). He also participated in numerous international conferences across Europe, Asia, and the CIS region.

Over his career, Kulnazarov led several ecological projects and authored more than 130 scientific publications, along with nine educational manuals, four textbooks, and three monographs. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 53.
