On February 14, the 1st Kyrgyz-Hungarian conference of rectors was held in Budapest.
As part of the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to Hungary on February 13-14, 2023, university rectors participated in activities to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.
The 1st Kyrgyz-Hungarian conference of rectors was attended by 18 heads of universities in Kyrgyzstan and more than 40 representatives of Hungarian universities.
Minister of Education and Science Ulanbek Mambetakunov expressed gratitude to the organizers of the conference of rectors for the opportunity to establish ties between the universities of the two states. State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation Balazs Hanko, President of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference Laszlo Borhi and Rector of the Diplomatic Academy Orsola Paccai Tomašić spoke on behalf of the Hungarian side.
As a result of the conference, an agreement was signed on cooperation between the Association of Universities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Rector's Conference of Hungary.
The rectors of the universities of Kyrgyzstan and Hungary signed 31 bilateral documents providing for:
1) Exchange of students and faculty;
2) implementation of joint scientific and research projects;
3) promotion of the Hungarian language in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kyrgyz language in Hungary by sending lecturers;
4) the opening of the Center for the Hungarian Language and Culture, and the creation of a faculty for the Hungary studies at one of the universities in Kyrgyzstan;
5) exchange of academic and educational materials.
The II Kyrgyzstan-Hungarian Rector's Conference will be held in Kyrgyzstan this year.
