On September 13, 2023, a meeting was held at the Russian Philology Faculty featuring the renowned Soviet and Russian poet, literary critic, and translator Mikhail Sinelnikov. The poetry enthusiasts, lecturers, and students of the Russian Philology Faculty attended the lecture titled “Kyrgyzstan in Russian poetry and Kyrgyz poetry in Russian translations”.
Mikhail Sinelnikov is known for his significant contributions to the translation of Central Asian poetry. Particularly he skillfully translated Alykul Osmonov`s poems. These translated works were compiled and published in the book titled "My Alykul."
This enlightening lecture was organized as an integral part of the "Kyrgyzstan – Russia: Common Cultural Heritage" Festival, taking place in the country from September 8 to 16.
Mikhail Sinelnikov was born in 1946 in Leningrad. He spent his formative years in Osh City. His educational journey began at the Osh State Pedagogical Institute, where he graduated from the Faculty of History. Subsequently, he pursued further studies at the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute, honing his literary talents. The poet is the author of more than 30 poetry books and has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Alykul Osmonov Award and the Honorary Diploma of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
