On October 21, the Faculty of International Medicine at Osh State University hosted an international awareness event titled “We Are Stronger Together!” as part of the global “Pink October” campaign dedicated to breast cancer prevention and early detection.
The event gathered medical professionals, students, and representatives of partner organizations to discuss the importance of women’s health and the role of early diagnosis in saving lives. In his opening remarks, Rector of Osh State University, Professor Kudaiberdi Kojobekov, emphasized the significance of the initiative and expressed gratitude to the healthcare specialists and educators working in the field of oncology. Dean of the Faculty of International Medicine, Dr. Roman Kalmatov, and Director of the Osh Interregional Oncology Center, Dr. Zarina Panizova, also addressed the audience.
During the session, Zarina Panizova presented a report titled “Statistics: Facts and Figures”, Oncologist and Mammographer Deniz Kasymov spoke on “Mammography as the Gold Standard for Early Detection of Cancer”, and Ultrasound Specialist Nurbek Mamapov delivered a presentation on “Ultrasound Diagnostics: Opportunities and Limitations.”
In addition, trainers who gained experience through the RITA project shared insights on international best practices in cancer prevention among young people in Kyrgyzstan. The initiative is supported by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation within the framework of the RITA Regional Transformations project. Its primary goal is to enhance awareness, promote preventive measures, and strengthen women’s health education at both national and regional levels.
Earlier, Osh State University faculty members - Professor Aida Keldibekova, Senior Lecturer Zhyldyz Toychueva, Associate Professor Zhaynagul Abdirasulova, and Meerimgul Busurmankul kyzy - completed a professional training program in Bydgoszcz, Poland, and are now conducting knowledge-sharing activities at the university.
