Exchange of experience in Turkey
Elmurat Obdunov, head of the "Food Security" research project and associate professor, is exchanging experience in Gaziantep, Turkey, as part of an internal grant program at Osh State University.
During the visit, which lasted from June 30 to August 5, he learned about the operations of leading pistachio and almond nurseries and discussed modern agricultural technologies and new varieties with specialists. The Osh State University research project is also discussing the possibilities of adapting and distributing high-yielding pistachio and almond varieties grown in Gaziantep to local conditions.
Gaziantep is one of the main centers of pistachio and almond production in Turkey. This region accounts for approximately 75% of the country's total production and is known for its advanced practices.
The goal of the "Food Security" project is to scientifically assess the potential of lands unsuitable for agriculture or underutilized. The project plans to develop scientifically based proposals for the efficient use of land resources and implement them in farmers' practices.
