On October 17, the Japanese Center at Osh State University launched the Japanese Culture Days. As part of the event, participants watched the Japanese film “Miracle in Our Lives” (2019) with Russian subtitles. The 120-minute film focuses on the theme of school life.

The opening ceremony was attended by Kursantbek Attokurov, Vice-Rector for External Relations of Osh State University, and Mr. Suzuki, Advisor to the Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan.

The Japanese Culture Days are organized jointly by the Embassy of Japan in Kyrgyzstan and the Japanese Center. The celebration will continue tomorrow, October 18, in the main building of Osh State University, where guests will enjoy a concert program, as well as demonstrations of yukata, calligraphy, origami, and traditional Japanese games.

The Japanese Center operates under the Higher School of International Educational Programs at Osh State University. Currently, 55 students study Japanese language and culture at the university. Osh State University also cooperates with the Kyoto Minsei International School of Japanese Language and Culture, where more than 20 students have already been trained, and seven more are currently studying.

Additionally, the university is implementing the SATREPS project in partnership with Tokyo Medical and Dental University. This project focuses on studying the impact of air pollution on human health, further strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Japan.
