Adilet Shamshiev, a 20-year-old student from the Kyrgyz-Chinese Faculty at Osh State University, is currently immersing himself in the rich cultural heritage of Xi’an, China, as part of an academic mobility program. Xi’an, renowned as one of China’s most significant historical and cultural centers, served as the capital of ancient China for 13 dynasties. Its archaeological treasures include the famed Terracotta Warriors and the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, discovered in 1974.

Adilet is among ten students from his faculty studying at Xi’an University on a fully-funded basis for one semester. Expressing gratitude towards his educational institution for providing him with this opportunity, Adilet reflects on his childhood dream of studying abroad, honing language skills, and becoming a professional in his field.

“Choosing the right university was a serious matter for me,” says Adilet. “I started considering it back in 7th or 8th grade at school, seeking advice from my older sisters and researching extensively. Making the right choice was crucial as it would shape my future.”

His dream of international education and professional growth led him to Osh State University, which offers grants to students and organizes international exchange programs. Adilet emphasizes that besides theoretical knowledge, Osh State University equips him with practical skills essential for his future career, fostering open-mindedness and readiness to face the challenges of the modern world.

“Osh State University not only provides me with academic education but also imparts valuable life lessons,” Adilet remarks. “It’s a place where I’ve found friends and like-minded individuals, sharing not only the hardships of studying but also the joy of success.”

Highlighting the importance of international experiences, Adilet encourages his fellow students to venture abroad at least once. “It broadens one’s worldview and perspectives on various aspects of life,” he explains. “New knowledge and interests emerge, and the significance of friendship and community involvement becomes evident, solidifying directions for professional development.”

Through Adilet’s journey, Osh State University exemplifies its commitment to shaping well-rounded individuals, fostering global perspectives, and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. As Adilet continues his exploration of Xi’an’s cultural riches, he remains a testament to the transformative power of international education.
