History of the Center

Postgraduate education of doctors originated in the 30s of the 19th century, when the universities of Moscow, Kazan and Kyiv began to practice the training of doctors in order to improve their qualifications, and internships for doctors in foreign clinics were also used. In 1885, the world's first clinical institute for the improvement of doctors was opened in St. Petersburg, now the St. Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

Postgraduate medical education became a unified state system in our country in 1964. In 1965, all institutes for the improvement of doctors were transferred to the USSR Ministry of Health, and in 1968 an internship was introduced.

The search for an optimal model of medical training led in the late 90s of the twentieth century to the recognition of the need for continuing medical postgraduate education, which resulted in a change in the paradigm from "education for life" to "education through life".

Medical postgraduate education can be divided into several types:

In 2009, by the decision of the Academic Council of Osh State University dated March 25, No. 154, the Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education was opened, headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Muratov Zhanybek Kudaibakovich. Since 2014, the faculty has been headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kalmatov Roman Kalmatovich, and from 2015 to 2021, Ph.D. Associate Professor Momunova A. A. Since February 2021, the faculty is headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Assoc. Zhanbaeva A.K.

The opening of the faculty was a requirement of the time and a timely decision of the administration of Osh State University, the purpose of which was to train and graduate full-fledged medical specialists.

In 2021, the 10th graduation of medical residents took place, who received the appropriate certificates for the right to work in their chosen field of medicine. For 10 years, more than 1,000 doctors have been trained, including from countries near and far abroad, such as Pakistan, Nepal, Syria, India, Japan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, etc.

Since the fall of 2021, the faculty has been reorganized into a center for postgraduate and continuing medical education, the director of which is Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhanbayeva Anara Keneshovna. Since 2015, the department of retraining and advanced training of medical and pharmaceutical workers of the healthcare system has been operating at the faculty. Since 2021, the department has been headed by Eshpayeva Ch. It should be noted that the department is working productively and provides timely advanced training for medical and pharmaceutical specialists.
