Research activities

Qualitative indicators of teaching staff

Research work of Osh State University is carried out in accordance with the Regulations approved by the Supreme Attestation Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2015, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on July 16, 2018 №327, amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Education" in May 2019. Research activities at the University are carried out in accordance with the role of the University in higher education and science policy in the Kyrgyz Republic and at a level closely related to the priority areas of science.

As of January 1, 2021, the total number of faculty members of the University - is 1885, including Corresponding Members of the National Academy of Sciences - 2, Academician of the Academy of Engineering - 1, Corresponding Members of the Academy of Engineering - 6, Academician of the European Academy of Natural Sciences - 1, Russia Corresponding members of the Academy of Natural Sciences - 5, Honored Workers of Science of the Kyrgyz Republic - 3, Honored Workers of Education - 10, Honored Workers of Education and Science of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences - 1, Honored Workers of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic - 16, Kyrgyz Republic People's Artist - 1, Honored People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic - 3, Honored Doctors - 5, Winners of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of science and technology - 2.

In January 1, 2021, there are 428 candidates of sciences, 70 doctors of sciences, and 8 doctors of philosophy (PhD) working at the university.

Training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff

In 2020, there are 4 doctors' and 5 candidates' dissertations were defended at Osh State University. In addition, many dissertations are defended by dissertation councils. From 2010-2020, 28 doctors and 243 candidates' dissertations were defended by scientists at Osh State University. Material support for research has long been provided at Osh State University. In particular, since October 2012, teachers who defended their PhD dissertations received 20,000 soms, associate professors who defended their doctor's dissertations received 40,000 soms, from January 24, 2014, teachers who defended their PhD dissertations received 25,000 soms, and associate professors who defended their doctors' dissertations received 50,000 soms. received a cash prize. From March 5, 2015, teachers defending PhD dissertations received 30,000 soms, associate professors defending doctoral dissertations received 60,000 soms, from March 2, 2018, PhD dissertations received 50,000 soms and doctoral dissertations received 100,000 soms. Undoubtedly, this support will be a great stimulus for the development of research, for candidates and doctors of science.

In order to promote the professional development of young scientists and professionals, protect their interests, and develop youth policy in the field of science and education, the University has established a Council of Young Scientists under the Research Department.

Scientific projects

Scientists of Osh State University together with an expert council of local governments successfully implement research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at promising areas of economic and social development in the southern part of the country.

Reputable scientists of the University have been actively participating in competitions announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic in priority areas of science for many years and have won a number of grants for research in related fields. In 2021, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic is implementing research projects funded by 3,932,899 soms in 8 priority areas of science.

In general, from 2010-2021, a total of 100 scientific projects were conducted and funded by the Ministry in the amount of 49,573,012 soms.

Also, in 2021, in order to effectively involve faculty and graduate students of Osh State University in independent research, the university announced a competition for a total amount of 5,000,000 soms. A total of 17 research projects were submitted to the competition. The results will be announced in the coming days, and funds will be allocated for projects approved by the commission.
