Studying in Challenging Times...

I was born in 1928 in the village of Mamajan in the Kara-Suu district. I completed my primary education in our village and attended the 7-year school in the village of Joosh. Later, in 1946, I graduated from Secondary School No. 3 “Communism”. In the same year, representatives from the Osh Regional Education Administration came and offered me to study at the Osh Teachers' Institute. From 1946 to 1948, I studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at the Osh Teachers' Institute.

During that period, life was difficult and livelihood was scarce. Since there weren't enough beds in our dormitory, we slept on wooden planks on the floor, with a mattress on top. The mattresses were made from sacks filled with old cotton. The institute provided vouchers to students, which we used to buy half a kilogram of roasted bread per day. Bread was available in all the shops, but we always had to queue to get it. In a tea house owned by a Uyghur near the institute, by the Ak-Buura River, students were served tea for free, and sometimes hot water.

In 1948, I graduated from the institute and was sent to the Alay district to teach physics and mathematics. In 1990, I retired. I am always proud to have studied at the Osh Teachers' Institute.
