It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Philological Sciences, Professor Jaanbay Elchiev on October 30, 2023. The field of education in our country has suffered an irreplaceable loss. He was born on January 15, 1957, and passed away at the age of 66.

Dr. Jaanbay Elchiev's life was marked by significant contributions to education and an illustrious career:

  • From 1984 to 1988, he served as a teacher of the Kyrgyz language and literature at the Monuev Alai District Secondary School.
  • From 1988 to 1990, he was a lecturer at the Department of Kyrgyz Language and Literature Teaching Methodology at Osh State Pedagogical Institute.
  • From 1990 to 2023, he held various positions at Osh State University, including lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, and professor at the Department of Kyrgyz Language and Literature Teaching Methodology within the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology and Journalism.

Dr. Elchiev's academic achievements included the successful defense of his doctoral dissertation in 2015, following the completion of his candidate's dissertation in 1996. He served in various administrative roles during his tenure at Osh State University:

  • In 1996-1997, he was the head of the Department of General Educational Disciplines at the Faculty of Theology.
  • From 1996 to 2007, he was the head of the Department of Kyrgyz Linguistics at the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology and Journalism.
  • From 2007 to 2010, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology and Journalism.
  • In 2003, he earned the title of Associate Professor in the field of linguistics.
  • From 2013 to 2023, he held the position of head of the Department of Kyrgyz Linguistics at the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology and Journalism.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Elchiev authored more than 50 scientific publications. He received numerous awards and honors for his long and fruitful service in the field of education.
