Remembering the Life and Legacy of Toktosun Attokurov

The sphere of education and science has suffered an irreparable loss as the renowned scholar, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Toktosun Attokurov, passed away at the age of 85.

Toktosun Attokurov was born in 1938 in the village of Josholu, Alay district, Osh region. His journey began as a laborer in the “Lenin Zholu” collective farm from 1956 to 1958. Later, from 1958 to 1963, he pursued studies at the Historical Faculty of the Kyrgyz National University.

He worked as a teacher of social sciences and history at the Makarenko Secondary School in the Alay district until 1964. From 1964 to 1968, he pursued distance learning at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR.

Attokurov began his academic career in 1965 as a lecturer at the Department of Philosophy at Osh State Pedagogical Institute and gradually advanced from a lecturer to a professor. Over the years until 2019, he chaired various departments at Osh State University.

Under Professor Attokurov's guidance, three candidates in science were mentored, and he authored over 80 scientific publications and five monographs. Recognized for his extensive and fruitful work, he received numerous awards.
