The British Ambassador visited Osh State University
The British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Nicholas Bowler, visited Osh State University and had a meeting with the rector, Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov.
During the meeting, they discussed potential collaborations between Osh State University and UK universities, focusing on educational program implementation, student and lecturer academic mobility, research activities, and sports. Rector Kozhobekov provided details about the university’s joint initiatives with Brunel University London, including the DEREKKA project, which aims to enhance Kyrgyzstan’s research and innovation capabilities by supporting doctoral degrees. Additionally, they discussed collaborative master’s and PhD programs in public health and medicine with Brunel University.
Ambassador Bowler expressed his eagerness to strengthen and expand inter-university cooperation. He also highlighted the Chevening Scholarships, a global government program, and mentioned the British government’s special emphasis on educational cooperation, as noted by Foreign Secretary David Cameron during his visit to Kyrgyzstan.
