US Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Lesslie Viguerie visited Osh State University as part of his business trip. In his meeting with Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, they discussed the university’s accomplishments in education, scientific research, international relations, and future plans. They also reviewed the facilities at the Faculty of World Languages and Cultures, which focuses on training English specialists, the activities of volunteer teachers, and the revival of connections between OshSU and US educational institutions.
The ambassador expressed his appreciation for Osh State University, noting the positive feedback he had received and endorsing the recommendations made during the meeting.
During his visit, Ambassador Viguerie met with English language faculty from the Faculty of World Languages and Cultures, including Eric Rosales, a TESOL trainer from the United States, and McKenna Virts, a Fulbright English teaching assistant. Dean Rakhat Sagyndykova provided information about English language teaching programs funded by the embassy and the contributions of volunteer teachers. He also presented on teacher training, courses, speaking and writing clubs, and academic English courses aimed at helping English teachers master the language for teaching and scientific purposes.
The ambassador discussed the impact of each volunteer teacher’s work in promoting the English language and answered questions from the attendees.
