Currently, around 60% of the workforce in the Kyrgyz Republic lacks vocational education. To address this, the Cabinet of Ministers established a Certification and Validation Center under the Ministry of Education and Science at the end of 2023.

This center oversees the entire assessment and certification process and facilitates collaboration with various stakeholders, including employers, business associations, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

On June 11 of this year, the first validation process took place at the Industrial Pedagogical College of Osh State University.

A special commission, comprised of employers and skilled craftsmen, validated eight individuals in the profession of “Sewing tailor”.

The event saw participation from Deputy Minister of Education and Science Rasul Abazbek uulu, representatives of the center, employers, independent observers, and others.

The validation and certification process aims to fulfill labor market demands. It allows individuals with skills in professions such as cooking, welding, and construction—who have acquired their expertise independently but lack formal vocational education—to obtain certification. This certification will verify their professional competence, assisting them in securing employment or changing jobs.

This process will be conducted through eight Centers of Excellence under the Ministry of Education and Science.
