A summer school on “Green Energy and Sustainable Development” is taking place in Issyk-Kul from June 24 to 28, 2024. This event is part of the GEM-SILKWAY project, in collaboration with Osh State University, the Eurasian National University named after N. Gumilyov, and the University of Milano-Bicocca.
The GEM-SILKWAY project is an international initiative involving 17 partners worldwide, focusing on sustainability and human development. This year, GEM-SILKWAY is conducting 11 summer schools. The project’s aim in Central Asia is to promote sustainable development and foster intercultural perspectives on human development.
Around 20 representatives from universities in Italy, Belgium, Finland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are participating in the training sessions. Lectures will be delivered by scientists from Italy, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Topics to be discussed include the state of energy, geopolitics, common rights in Central Asia, the implementation of sustainable development goals, greening campuses, the importance of risk management in sustainable development, artificial intelligence in green energy management, and trends in green energy development.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Vice-Rector of Osh State University N. Omurov, Vice-Rector of the Eurasian National University named after N. Gumilyov D. Aitmagambetov and Nurkataeva, representatives from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Federico Falla and Vincenzo Spinelli, and Vice-Rector of the University of Milano-Bicocca Silvana Stefani and Maurizio Acciarri.
