From August 26 to 28, Osh State University is hosting a teacher training as part of the annual August conference. Organized by the State Institute for Advanced Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Ministry of Education and Science, with support from the European Union’s “Promoting the Creation of a Healthy Learning Environment” (WASH) project, the training focuses on “Strategies for Designing an Effective Lesson in the Context of Updating National Educational Standards and Subject Standards. SCAFFOLD Cards as a Modern Lesson Planning Tool”.

Held at the university’s Educational and Conference Center, the training is designed to help educators plan effective lessons using SCAFFOLD cards, which were developed with the European Union’s assistance. These cards support inclusive and accessible education, emphasizing STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) as well as fostering “green” skills.

Fifty teachers from schools in Osh, Karasuu, and Aravan are participating in the training, which is part of a 72-hour modular course. This includes 24 in-person hours, 20 online hours, and 28 hours of independent work. Upon completion, participants will be tested and receive certification as trainers.

The goal of the training is to equip teachers with strategies to meet modern educational standards while developing essential competencies in students. Special focus is given to overcoming challenges in setting lesson objectives and selecting effective teaching methods.

The WASH project, supported by the European Union, also aims to enhance school infrastructure, communications, and the overall educational environment, contributing to the creation of a more inclusive and modern schooling experience across the Kyrgyz Republic.
