Today, on October 30, Osh State University hosted a scientific and literary evening to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Nurmamat Turganbaev, a candidate of philological sciences and associate professor.
The event drew academics from various universities, ambassadors from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as university faculty, and students. It began with a short film highlighting Turganbaev’s life and achievements.
During the celebration, Osh State University Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov honored Turganbaev, discussing his life, scientific contributions, and creative talents, noting his unique skills not only as a scholar and lecturer but also as a musician. Turganbaev’s colleagues and students also spoke, sharing stories of his exemplary career and offering their congratulations. The evening featured accordion-accompanied songs, and students presented their congratulations as well.
Renowned for his contributions to Kyrgyz linguistics, Turganbaev has authored three textbooks, a scientific monograph, and over 60 research articles. His career at Osh State University includes roles as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, and former dean of the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology and Journalism. He currently teaches linguistics at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.
