In celebration of the 85th anniversary of Osh State University in Osh, a grand spectacle unfolded as the city played host to the “Silk Road Marathon-2024”. Athletes from across the regions of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, alongside university faculty, students, and schoolchildren, converged for this remarkable event.
Over 1000 city dwellers participated in the marathon, each brimming with enthusiasm and determination. The competition offered three distances: 3, 5, and 10 kilometers, across age categories spanning 14+, 45+, and 55+. Every participant underwent a meticulous registration process, receiving a race number.
“This marks the inaugural occurrence of such a monumental running marathon in the history of Osh State University,” remarked Rector Kudayberdi Kozhobekov. “This event is organized with the help of Osh city committee for physical culture and sports, in collaboration with sponsors. We extended invitations to city residents, professional athletes, and educational institutions across Kyrgyzstan. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all participants who supported our jubilee event, along with community leaders spearheaded by university rectors.”
In the 55+ category for the 3-kilometer distance, Turdumamat Abazov clinched the top spot, followed by Zhakypzhan Mameto and Burkanov Akylbek. Among women, Gulsun Musupaeva secured the first position, followed by Gulaim Maksutalieva and Meilikan Orozova.
In the 45+ category for the 3-kilometer distance, Asan Absatarov secured the lead, trailed by Obolbek Osmonbekov and Omarzhan Nurdinov. Among women, Gulanda Toychubekova claimed the first position, followed by Kulpunay Toktorova and Sveta Bekeeva.
For the 5-kilometer race in the 35+ category, Alimardan Sabirov emerged victorious, with Ahmed Bulatov securing second place and Talant Erzhanov finishing third. Among women, Nargiza Namatova, Barchyn Davlyatova, and Ayniza Aitieva claimed the top three positions.
In the 14+ category, Elsier Khabibillaev, Habibulla Amatov, and Nurel Askarbaev secured the first, second, and third positions, respectively. Among women, Madina Abdikadyrova, Madina Zairova, and Bermet Omurbakieva stood out as the top performers.
Among professional athletes for the 10-kilometer distance, Jusup Sulaiman Uulu, Mirbek Adinov, and Ibrahimov Rahmatulla secured the top three positions for men, while Alymkan Dzhamshitbekova, Son Renato, and Mayramkan Daniyarova did so for women.
Every winner in each category received medals, diplomas, cash prizes, and valuable gifts. Additionally, participants were treated to a captivating concert program, adding a delightful conclusion to this remarkable event.
