Based on the “Inclusive Culture” project, Osh State University recently hosted a student conference titled “Socio-legal Status of People with Disabilities in Kyrgyzstan.”
The conference featured speeches from several key figures, including Mastura Sharipova, Vice-Rector for Language and Social Issues at Osh State University, Sabir Arstanov, dean of the Faculty of History and Social Issues, Avazkan Ormonova, an expert at the Agency for Social Technologies, and Kamilzhan Mainaev, director of the Sezim public fund for the disabled. They all expressed their best wishes for the success of the conference.
Fourteen students participated in the conference, with three students receiving first, second, and third place diplomas. Saykal Dzholdubaeva, a 4th-year social issues student, secured first place with her presentation on “The Impact of Narcotic Substances on the Human Body and the Occurrence of Disability.” Barsbek Aitaliev, a 3rd-year law student, won second place for his work on “Legal Protection of Citizens with Disabilities in the Kyrgyz Republic by the State.” Aibek Kyzy Kurmanzhan, a 4th-year student specializing in socio-economic education (history profile), took third place with her report on “The Situation and Problems of Youth with Disabilities in Kyrgyzstan Society.”
Following the conference, a national quiz will be held among the winners. Those who succeed in the quiz will participate in the Council of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on Affairs of People with Disabilities.
Nurzinat Toktorbekova, the event coordinator and head of the Department of Social Issues, emphasized that education and culture significantly contribute to human development, and that inclusive education and culture are vital for creating an inclusive society. She noted that students are a progressive force in fostering inclusivity in Kyrgyzstan and expressed confidence that collaboration with students will yield positive outcomes.
The event was organized under the auspices of the Council of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic for People with Disabilities and the Ministry of Education and Science.
