Turdaly Omorov, an esteemed Professor in the Department of Sports and National Games at the Faculty of Natural Science, Physical Education, Tourism, and Agricultural Technologies at Osh State University, and an Honored Coach of the Kyrgyz Republic, was awarded a cash prize of 1 million soms. Omorov is the coach of Munarbek Seyitbek uulu, the silver medalist in boxing at the Paris Olympic Games. Munarbek himself received a prize of 10 million soms and a new car.
During the award ceremony, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, praised Munarbek for his poise, humility, composure, and unique technique, which allowed him to defeat his opponents one by one despite this being his first Olympic appearance. Munarbek made history by winning the first Olympic medal for Kyrgyz boxing. Having previously earned a medal at the World Championship, Munarbek has now further cemented his place in Kyrgyz boxing history with this Olympic achievement.
It is worth noting that Munarbek Seyitbek uulu completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Osh State University and has been a member of the Kyrgyz national boxing team since 2017. He has been coached by Turdaly Omorov, an Honored Coach of the Kyrgyz Republic and an AIBA international category judge.
