Through artificial insemination, seeds of a new breed of sheep called "Ala-Too" have been produced and their quality has been tested.
Training on "Artificial Insemination of Sheep and Their Preparation for Lambing" was conducted at the Scientific Center of Molecular Biotechnology at Osh State University. Detailed information on the biotechnology of reproduction was provided to faculty members, students, and farmers.
The seminar was organized by the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology and the Association for Breeding the "Ala-Too" Sheep Breed in the southern region.
The "Ala-Too" sheep breed is considered a new breed of meat-wool direction, created through the crossbreeding of local sheep with Gossar sheep.
"One breeding ewe typically costs between 5,000 and 10,000 USD, and can reach up to 30,000 USD," noted Professor Abdugani Abdurasulov.
Currently, this direction is one of the department's scientific priorities. To check the DNA of the sheep, their blood and wool have been sent to the PCR laboratory of Tarim University in China. In addition, indicators related to milk, meat, and other selection-genetic parameters are being studied. Based on the research results, a standard will be developed, and then the "Ala-Too" breed will be recommended to Kyrgyz patent.
