A Scientific Conference Dedicated to Apas Jumagulov's 90th Birthday Held at OshSU

On September 6, 2024, a scientific and practical conference titled “The Role of Apas Jumagulov on the Sovereign Path of Kyrgyzstan: Experience and Challenges,” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the prominent statesman and political figure, Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic Apas Jumagulov, was held in the large assembly hall of Osh State University.

The conference was attended by Apas Jumagulov, Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva; President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Temir Sariev; Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Osh Region, Elchibek Djantaev; former Prime Minister Zhantoro Satybaldiev, notable public figures, scholars, faculty members, and students.

In their congratulatory speeches, guests highlighted the long and fruitful work of A. Jumagulov, his personal qualities, and his role in the development of Kyrgyz statehood.

At the plenary session, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Bakytbek Abytov delivered a report titled “Apas Jumagulov is State Figure, Diplomat, and Scholar of Two Eras.” The scholar detailed the life and work of A. Jumagulov at various stages of the country’s history and highlighted his contributions across various fields, including economic, party, state, diplomatic, entrepreneurial, and scientific research activities.

During the conference, Apas Jumagulov was awarded the honorary titles of “Honorary Citizen of the Osh Region” and “Honorary Professor of OshSU.”

Apas Jumagulov led the country's government during the Soviet era and in the challenging years of establishing sovereignty in the post-Soviet period. Today, Apas Jumagulov actively engages in public activities and shares his vast experience with young leaders.

The moderator of the scientific forum was the Rector of OshSU, Professor K.G. Kozhobekov.
