Rugby experts from Cardiff, Great Britain, are conducting master classes and training sessions for both lecturers and students at Osh State University.

These sessions began on October 1, with the British Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Nicholas Bowler, attending the opening, along with Rysbek Kulov, head of the rugby federation in Osh, and Nurzhamal Mapaeva, vice-rector of the university.

Ambassador Bowler highlighted the growing interest in rugby in Kyrgyzstan and expressed his appreciation to Osh State University for their collaboration and support in organizing these events.

For the first time, a team from the southern region is participating in the national rugby championship. Last year, this team, led by Shumkarbek Oken uulu, traveled to Cardiff for a 10-day training camp.

Rugby, a team sport originating in 19th-century England, involves players passing the ball to one another with the goal of advancing it towards the opponent’s scoring area. The distinctive H-shaped goals are composed of two vertical posts, 5.6 meters apart, with a crossbar set 3 meters above the ground. The team with the most points at the end of the match wins, with points awarded for successful plays.

Rugby has been played in Kyrgyzstan since 2001, and a national rugby federation operates in the country.
