Osh State University held an information session on October 29 for approximately 400 international students, providing them with essential information on visa issuance, registration requirements, mandatory health insurance, and potential consequences for failing to obtain insurance coverage.
Representatives from local law enforcement and relevant authorities outlined ethical standards related to illegal migration, guidance on navigating Kyrgyzstan, and appropriate behavior while residing in the country. Key speakers included Ernest Polotov, head of the Osh city police department for combating illegal migration; Maksymbek Omokeev, director of the Osh branch of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund; along with representatives from the State Committee for National Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ regional office, the Osh public service center, and other university and ministry representatives.
Students were informed about Kyrgyz citizenship procedures, options for health insurance, and available discounts for students with disabilities. They also inquired about lawful employment and residency registration processes.
OshSU officials highlighted ongoing efforts to ensure student and university safety, emphasizing measures to prevent illegal migration. The university’s security and international student services urged thorough document verification to prevent fraud and reinforce proper applicant screening.
The session was jointly organized by OshSU’s International Language Center, Security Service, and Department of International Relations.
