Osh State University hosted the event "Meeting place of generations - the library", devoted to the 120th anniversary of the creation of the library in Kyrgyzstan and the day of libraries in Kyrgyzstan (May 27), established by the Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic №308 dated June 17, 2008.

The event participants were representatives of the plenipotentiary representation of the President in the Osh region, the Osh City Hall, libraries of the city's universities, teachers and students of the university. A welcoming speech to the participants was made by the Vice-Rector for Distance Learning of Osh State University, Professor Tasilkan Zhumabava, who noted the great contribution of the libraries of Kyrgyzstan to the development of education, science, culture, information of the republic.

Currently, the book fund of the scientific library of Osh State University has over a million books. The library has 5 departments, 14 libraries, 13 reading rooms, 2 cathedral rooms. Since 2013, the "IRBIS 64" system has been introduced into the work of the library. Electronic services are provided in all libraries and reading rooms, more than 27,750 subscribers are registered in the electronic cabinet.
