On April 10, Osh State University organized an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to current challenges in breeding Kyrgyzstan’s newly developed “Ala-Too” sheep breed.

The event brought together participants from the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative Office in Osh Region, Osh City Hall, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, as well as scientists and farmers from neighboring countries.

Key discussions focused on promoting the “Ala-Too” sheep breed and integrating it into agricultural production. Participants emphasized the need to enhance selective breeding practices and adopt modern technologies to boost the fertility of this new breed. Recommendations were also made to establish specialized breeding farms and factories for the “Ala-Too” sheep.

As part of the conference, a sculpture of the Ala-Too sheep was unveiled in the courtyard of the Veterinary Clinic at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Physical Education, Tourism, and Agrarian Technologies.

Previously, Osh State University had conducted research on the development of this new sheep breed.
