A delegation, led by Talant Sultanov, the chairman of the "Kyrgyz Branch of the Internet Society," visited Osh State University and established a partnership. During their meeting with rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, they signed a memorandum of cooperation.
As per the memorandum's terms, OshSU is set to transform into a hub for digital innovation in Central Asia. In the initial phase, OshSU will install an Internet exchange point (switch).
Talant Sultanov, the chairman of the "Kyrgyz Branch of the Internet Society," stated that once this equipment is operational, Internet service providers and educational institutions in Osh will collaborate more effectively. This collaboration will enhance the quality of Internet service in the Osh region and Osh City, ultimately leading to more affordable prices.
Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov expressed OshSU's openness to supporting new initiatives, highlighting its special status. He also shared information about ongoing digitization projects at the university.
Under the memorandum, OshSU will train individuals in computer and digital literacy. These trainers will then share their expertise in rural areas of the Osh region, contributing to the development of the digital economy.
Later in the day, as part of the memorandum, IT specialists from the public association, students, and faculty will convene. This meeting will provide insights into the "Kyrgyz Branch of the Internet Society's" activities, the memorandum's objectives, and educational resources related to digital literacy, including Python programming courses.
This collaboration aims to bolster the digital skills of the local population, enhance Internet connectivity, and improve technical stability in the southern region of the Kyrgyz Republic.
