Mountain Ecosystem Protection and Green Innovations Consulting Center

According to the order of the Rector of Osh State University, and in line with the programs announced by the President of the country, Sadyr Japarov, in cooperation with local communities — “Green Legacy” and “Mountain Ecosystem Conservation and Climate Resilience” — the Mountain Ecosystem Protection and Green Innovations Consulting Center was established at Osh State University to implement these programs in practice.

The Center pursues the following objectives:

  • Developing ecological scientific projects

  • Establishing connections with international organizations and finding funding sources and donors to implement projects in practice

  • Coordinating and commercializing projects

  • Conducting ecological educational activities as well as ecological scientific research, particularly among diverse layers of mountain populations

The MountainEcoConsulting Center involves leading researchers and practitioners from OshSU and higher education institutions in Osh in various fields including biology, chemistry, geography, agriculture and forestry, geodesy, geoecology, medicine, economics, social work, pedagogy, world languages and culture, international relations, history, law, psychology, etc., to carry out scientific research and project implementation.

Since its establishment, the Center, in collaboration with partners, has successfully implemented the following ecological projects:

  • “Kurb-Tash Forest” (2019–2024) – Funded by private contributions, OshSU, Jalpak-Tash Village Council, the State Emergency Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, Aga Khan Foundation, and USAID.

  • “Restoration of Soil Layers Degraded by Landslides: Forestry and Melioration Measures and Biorecultivation to Protect Mountain Ecosystems under Climate Change Conditions” (2025) – Funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic; to be implemented in 2025–2027.

  • BIOM Eco-Association project – Assessing the condition of felled trees and green areas in Osh city due to reconstruction activities and their impact on public health, including phytopathological and medical expertise (2025).

  • OshSU internal grant projects exhibition – 2025 – Won the “Best Project for Green Economy Development – 2025” category; the “Innovative Nursery” project is being implemented.

The Center closely collaborates with international organizations such as USAID, Aga Khan Foundation, ADB, IVMI, PACE, BIOM, and others.
