The surgical team at Osh State University’s medical clinic performed a surgical intervention for the first time on an actively functioning heart. The surgery, known as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, aims to correct impaired blood flow in the heart muscle, commonly used in the treatment of ischemic heart disease. CABG involves creating alternative circulatory pathways, thereby reducing the risk of myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac death.
The surgery was performed in collaboration with the clinic’s cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Zhakshylyk Abdimalip Uulu and his Russian counterpart Bakytbek Kadyraliev, utilizing the patient’s own veins and arteries to provide additional routes for blood supply. The postoperative condition of the 60-year-old patient was reported to be satisfactory.
Infrastructure improvements have been made recently in the clinic to adapt to complex cardiovascular surgical procedures, including the acquisition of modern medical equipment and devices. Osh State University’s rector, Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, emphasized the creation of appropriate conditions for successfully performing various surgical interventions in the clinic.
Currently, the clinic is effectively involved in the implementation of various surgical procedures.
