Osh State University recently played host to a scholarly gathering of profound significance, marking the 140th anniversary of Imanaly Aidarbekov, a towering figure in Kyrgyzstan’s history, and celebrating the 85th anniversary of the university itself. The event, a scientific-practical conference, served as a tribute to Aidarbekov’s enduring legacy as a distinguished statesman and public servant, as well as an opportunity to reflect on his contributions to Kyrgyz statehood and national independence.
The conference was attended by members of the Jogorku Kenesh, including Janarbek Akayev, Chingiz Aidarbekov, Marlen Mamatayev, Eldar Abakirov, Azamat Israilov, Gyulkhan Moldobekova, Aysuluu Mamashova, as well as the President’s advisor Arslan Koichiev, Professor Zainiddin Kurmanov, Chairman of the “Legacy” Fund Kyas Moldokasymov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Rasul Abazbek Uulu, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Ainura Askarova, representatives of the President’s authorized representative office in the Osh region, Osh city hall, scientists, and students from various universities.
A highlight of the conference was the unveiling of an exhibition showcasing educational, industrial, scientific, and entrepreneurial projects pioneered by Osh State University. This provided attendees with a firsthand glimpse into the university’s innovative initiatives and its commitment to academic excellence and societal advancement.
Throughout the proceedings, discussions centered on Aidarbekov’s pivotal role in shaping Kyrgyzstan’s political landscape and fostering economic development. Speakers underscored his instrumental efforts in steering the nation towards independence and securing its sovereignty in the face of historical challenges.
Chingiz Aidarbekov, a descendant of Imanaly Aidarbekov, expressed his appreciation for the conference’s comprehensive exploration of his ancestor’s legacy. He emphasized the importance of documenting such scholarly endeavors for the benefit of future generations, highlighting the potential of compiling research findings into a publication that could serve as a valuable resource for youth seeking to understand their country’s history and heritage.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to academia and public service, a group of professors from Osh State University were honored with prestigious certificates and letters of gratitude from the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. This gesture underscored the university’s commitment to fostering excellence in education and nurturing a culture of scholarly inquiry and civic engagement.
As a fitting tribute to Imanaly Aidarbekov’s enduring legacy, a dedicated “State Management” cabinet was inaugurated at the university’s Faculty of Business and Management. This initiative aims to perpetuate his memory and legacy by providing students with a dedicated space for the study and exploration of governance and leadership principles.
The conference, organized in collaboration with the parliamentary faction “Alliance” of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, served as a testament to the enduring legacy of Imanaly Aidarbekov and the pivotal role of Osh State University in preserving and disseminating Kyrgyzstan’s rich cultural heritage and intellectual legacy.
Imanaly Aidarbekov was born in 1884 in Sokuluk district of Chui region. In 1924, he was elected chairman of the revolutionary committee of Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast. In December 1924, at the request of Imanaly Aidarbekov, the state authorities of the Kyrgyz Autonomy were transferred from Tashkent to Bishkek. In 1991, his body was reburied in the “Atabeyit” cemetery.
