Construction of a waste-to-energy plant has officially begun in the Kara-Suu district of Osh region, with specialists from China involved in the project. On November 18, the leadership of Osh State University, headed by Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, met with a delegation from the Chinese company Xiamen Jinming Energy Conservation Technology Co., Ltd., led by Huang Xiaorong, the Deputy General Director of the company’s international division. During the meeting, they reviewed the progress of the project and discussed future plans.
The plant, located in the Kara-Suu district, aims to improve the region’s ecological conditions, tackle waste management issues, and generate environmentally friendly electricity. It is designed to produce 6,000 kilowatts of power per hour, contributing to solving waste problems and enhancing environmental quality in Osh, Kara-Suu, Ozgen, Nookat, and Aravan districts.
“In this project, OshSU acts as a bridge between the said enterprise and the Kara-Suu district. Since the launch of this plant, corresponding specialties have been opened at the university, and students, along with theoretical knowledge, can gain practical experience and get a job. In addition, scientific research will be conducted,” Kozhobekov said.
OshSU continues to foster collaboration between education, research, and industry, with this project being a significant step in addressing regional environmental issues. The initiative is also expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of the university and the surrounding region.
The tripartite memorandum to implement the project was signed on August 1, 2024, between Xiamen Jinming Energy Conservation Technology Co., Ltd., OshSU, and the Kara-Suu district administration.
