On May 29, the Faculty of History at Osh State University marked its 40th anniversary with a celebratory event. The ceremony was officially opened by the university’s rector, Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, who spoke about the faculty’s history, accomplishments, and milestones, and extended his congratulations.
The celebration was attended by distinguished alumni and guests, including the head of the Jogorku Kenesh Apparatus, Alaybek Alimbayev; Vice Mayor of Osh, Sonunbek Zhunusbayev; Kenzhebek Abdyldayev, head of the social department of the presidential representative’s office in Osh region; Rector of Osh State University, Bekmyrza Zuluyev; representatives from partner universities abroad; scholars, university faculty, and students.
A documentary highlighting the faculty’s achievements over the past four decades was screened. Congratulations were delivered by representatives of partner institutions, academics from the Czech Republic, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as by veteran educators and alumni.
Notable speakers included long-serving and current faculty members, such as professor and public figure Baltagul Nurunbetov; Ertabyldy Sulaimanov, professor at the State University of Kyrgyzstan; Jumali Adilbaev, associate professor at Osh State University; public and political figure Tursunbai Bakir uulu; and Karybek Alymkulov, associate professor at I. Arabayev State University. They shared reflections on the faculty’s legacy and expressed their well wishes.
During the event, outstanding teachers of Osh State University received national and municipal honors, while distinguished alumni were recognized with the title “Best Graduate of the Faculty of History.” A scientific-practical conference titled “Heritage and Future of Historical Education in Kyrgyzstan” was also held as part of the anniversary program, featuring scholarly presentations.
In the afternoon, guests were invited to tour the city of Osh and visit Osh State University. The anniversary celebration was supported by the N-Group construction company.
Established in 1985, the Faculty of History has trained over 5,000 graduates who have gone on to make significant contributions to society. Today, it operates as part of the Institute of History and Law.
