Teachers Collect Medicinal Plant Herbariums at Taldyk Pass

A team of researchers and scientists, headed by Bolotbek Karimov, Associate Professor at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Physical Education, Tourism and Agrarian Technologies, along with Professor Muhammad Zafar from Quaid-i-Azam University in Pakistan, conducted an expedition to the Taldyk Pass in the upper Gulcha River region.

During the expedition, they collected herbariums of over fifty species of medicinal plants. These specimens will be utilized as part of the project titled “Development of Methods for Introducing Certain Rare Ornamental and Medicinal Plants into the Wild.”

Following the fieldwork, Professor Muhammad Zafar delivered a guest lecture to faculty and students at the institute. His talk, titled “The Role of Biodiversity in Climate Change,” highlighted his scientific work and experiences, discussing contemporary research techniques, effective experimental practices, and pressing global scientific challenges.

Professor Zafar is a distinguished scholar, currently ranked 2nd in the world according to the AD Scientist Index. He is widely recognized for his active contributions to the global scientific community.
